Capacity is only the first number

A chair rated for 300 lb will carry a 300 lb rider, but it won't feel the same as it does with a 180 lb rider. Check these too:

Seat width. A 17 in seat and a 20 in seat are very different for comfort and for getting in and out. Measure your hip width while seated and add about 1–2 in.

Range at your weight. Range claims are usually measured with a lighter test rider. Pride is one of the few brands that publishes range by rider weight. For example, the Jazzy Passport claims 8.6 mi at 220 lb but 7.9 mi at 250 lb. For heavier riders, plan on noticeably less than the headline claim.

Motor power and hills. Where motors are published, look for dual motors of 200 W or more. The IQ-7000 lists 2 × 250 W and a 6° climbing limit.

Frame weight vs. capacity. The lightest 300 lb-rated chair here (Forcemech G10, 27.8 lb) weighs less than half as much as the two chairs rated above 300 lb. Lighter chairs often have lower ground clearance and smaller wheels, so test them on your usual surfaces.

Warranty terms at max load. Ask whether frame warranty claims are affected by regular use near the maximum rating.

Which one to shortlist

• You need more than 300 lb: ComfyGO Majestic IQ-7000 (350 lb). It also auto-folds by remote, which helps if you can't bend to fold a chair.
• You need a wider seat but stay under 300 lb: Karman Tranzit Go or ComfyGO IQ-7000 (20 in).
• Someone else lifts the chair: Forcemech G10 or Jazzy Carbon 27, the lightest 300 lb-rated chairs.
